Arthur's Pass

My sister was with us for a couple of days as they wanted to do Cave Stream near Castle Hill in Arthur's Pass. We ended up having a big day doing Cave Stream, The waterfall track at Arthur's Pass the the limestone rocks.

Definitely and amazing place to stay

When you have just crossed the stream to go to the waterfall track in the Arthur's Pass township, if you turn back, you see this amazing stone hut tucked in the bush. I so want to stay there!!!!
After the second bridge the boys decided to scramble rather than take the track - always up for a bit of adventuring.
Unfortunately this was the only striding out I did! My blood pressure was low and I was dizzy and could not sort it out so I had to wander around the village, do my knitting etc.
I took a lot of photos of the old old cute houses that are around.
Gearing up to do Cave Stream.
The intrepid cavers ready to go.
Starting to emerge from the cave 1 hour later. Kids first.
Adults last. Have to say when I saw the kids coming out I was a bit worried about the adults fitting through the ledge!!!
Of to the boulders. This was one walk I could slowly do.

Great day out. Lovely to have family staying over the holiday time.

My boots were made for walking

But that is not what they normally do!! They sit in the bottom of the wardrobe remembering the times they got out into the bush.
The selfie before starting
Well this last Easter weekend I dusted the boots off and went with Aaron and the boys on a walk in Arthur's Pass. The views were amazing. After an initial hour of up and down we came out on a wide valley, the sun shone and it was gorgeous.
The up and down bit was almost too much but it was so lovely to be out in the real bush like we used to all the time.
The boys and I went about half way to the hut and then turned around. Aaron left us and ran to the hut and back again. So we did 12km but Aaron did 22!! Autumn is the time when I seem to be able to tramp. Cold enough to keep my blood pressure up which means I can walk further with not so many issues.
With the way that the weather started at the weekend it was just amazing to have such lovely weather and get out and about on Sat, Sun and Monday. We went down memory lane and stayed at Flock Hill in the backpackers. We talked a lot about Kerryn's wedding there.

Lots of this went on
Well my Easter weekend turned out to be nothing like what was planned and booked. The boys and I were booked to be at Flock Hill backpackers in the Arthurs Pass, whilst Aaron and his brother Stephen completed the Goat Pass tramp. BUT...... Thursday night Eli started vomiting and was not well enough to move on Friday.

Flock Hill were amazing and let us cancel with no payment. We had a quiet day. ALL the bags and food remained packed ready to travel somewhere on Saturday. Eli was definitely better but a bit dubious about travelling. So we decided to stay.

Now packing took me all of Thursday, so then I unpacked for a good part of Saturday afternoon.

We still had a lovely weekend. The boys had a quiet weekend, I gardened -  managing to get some beds put down for the winter, sprayed the raspberries and boysenberries as they were getting raspberry moth, mowing lawn, trimming edges and tried to finish some projects. Then we had a big day at Ruapuna race track on Sunday - we went to see the drifting. The day went from 10-5.30 - it was good but I was exhausted when I came home.

Do you know that I was surprised to look at my blog and realise that I had not posted for 8 days!! In my head I have written heaps of posts, but I have also been rather tired this week and not really managing to achieve any finishes in my projects.

Hope you all had a good weekend.
